The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), on July 10, 2026, invited suggestions from stakeholders for a comprehensive review of the Acts and Rules administered by PESO to enhance safety, simplify regulatory procedures, promote Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), and align the regulatory framework with technological advancements and international best practices. The review covers the Explosives Act, 1884, Explosives Rules, 2008, Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016, Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 2016, Petroleum Rules, 2002, Ammonium Nitrate Rules, 2012, and Calcium Carbide Rules, 1987.
PESO has requested industry associations, manufacturers, importers, exporters, oil marketing companies, testing and inspection agencies, academia, government departments, and other stakeholders to submit specific, evidence-based, and practical suggestions. Submissions should identify the relevant provision, proposed amendment, justification, expected benefits, and supporting documents wherever applicable.
Stakeholders may submit their suggestions through the online suggestion form or by scanning the QR code provided in the circular. The last date for submission of suggestions is July 31, 2026, after which PESO will examine the inputs while formulating proposals for amendments to the respective Acts and Rules.
